The Old Testament is based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, whilst the New Testament follows the Greek Textus Receptus / majority text, and therefore contains all the verses that are missing from most Bibles today, e.g. Matt 17:21; 18:11; 23:14; Mark 7:16; 9:44; 9:46; 11:26; 15:28; Luke 17:36; John 5:4; Acts 8:37; 15:34; 24:7; 28:29; Romans 16:24; 1 John 5:7.
The King James Bible was produced in 1611 by royal command, at the behest of His Majesty King James I of England, whose 47 translators spent seven years compiling the Bible that today bears his name.
[*The Book of Psalms in the Old Testament is presented in this KJV Bible as a single, complete book, but on our website it is divided into two parts (for practical reasons).]
